The Monastery of Deir es-Salib
The Monastery is located below the village of Hadshit in Wadi Houlat. The Monastery of Deir es-Salib was a well-known place for all hermits of varying beliefs. The Patriarch-Historian E. Doueyhi noted that this was a Jacobite cult place till the end of the 15th c. The monastery is lodged in a natural cave approximately 20m wide and 16m deep. In the cliff, below this cave, we find four small cavities where Anchorites used to live.
Waterfalls of Houshta-Hadshit Valley
: A tropical journey starts from Hadshit village, taking a footpath to the valley, passing by a new trail around 5 km between oak forest, passing near the Old Mills and the convent of Saint. Antonio de Padua, the trail will continue to Qadisha river, passing by a wooden bridge, we will reach the waterfalls of HOUSHTA.
Rupestrian Assia Grotto Mystery
The spot is dedicated to Mar Assia (a name that derives from the Syriac word Osyo meaning a “medical doctor”). Mar Assia’s real name was Pantalaïmon, a doctor from Nicomedia in Asia Minor, who lived in the 4th c. and attended the poor for free after his conversion to Christianity. He was martyred in 303.
Mar Youhanna EL-DEMASCUS
A church and monastery built in one of the caves of Wadi Qadisha, Mar Youhanna Adna used to be a Phoenician temple, before it was adopted as a hermitage then turned to a Jacobian church.
